Instructional Assistant
Summary - Provide support and assistance to students in grades 6 – 12 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Must be patient, caring, and truly enjoy working with adolescents. This is a part time position with morning hours, ideally from 8am-1pm Monday to Friday.
LEAD TEACHER/DEAN OF STUDENTS
We are currently seeking a Lead Teacher/Dean of Students to assist with instructional leadership. This is a full-time position with both administrative and teaching responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide and sustain an atmosphere of love, care, acceptance, and respect for all students.
Enjoy working with challenging adolescents and be adept at making connections and building rapport.
Develop positive relationships and mutual respect with all students.
Serve as a leader and effective instructional role model for all education staff.
Mentor new teachers and provisionally licensed teachers.
Provide instructional coaching, as needed.
Demonstrate strong, proactive, positive behavior management skills with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
Exercise firm, fair, and consistent use of the school behavior management system.
Assist with the review and adoption of textbooks and curriculum.
Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to operate a licensed, accredited private day school.
Assist in obtaining and maintaining school licensure and accreditation standards as mandated by the Virginia Department of Education.
Serve as a member of the LifeBridge Admission team.
Organize and plan Social-Emotional Learning programming, including selection of materials, training of staff, and implementation of programs.
Work closely with the school counselor to address student needs.
Develop and maintain productive, professional partnerships with school district staff, parents, and agency representatives.
Participate in student IEP meetings. Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop IEP’s and develop goals to address students’ academic and behavioral needs.
Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation with student lessons, following VDOE SOL objectives; make SOLs and lesson objectives clear to the students.
Demonstrate the ability to engage students in learning and make content relevant.
Provide lessons that address multiple learning modalities and utilize a variety of teaching materials and techniques.
Employ individual accommodations from IEPs and focus individualized instruction on student IEP goals.
Utilize technology to enhance and add value to the lessons.
Assure that classroom expectations and consequences are made clear to the students and consistently enforced.
Employ formative and summative assessments as a means of continually monitoring student progress and adjust teaching as needed.
Foster a positive partnership with LEA representatives and parent/guardians.
Attend and participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
Maintain professional credentials and competencies for licensure.
Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with all LifeBridge staff.
Make a positive, professional impression with all visitors, parents, and agency representatives.
Ensure that accurate and complete student records are maintained as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Monitor and evaluate compliance with IEP’s, documentation of educational services, and treatment progression.
Implement student assessment instruments to measure progress and provide outcome data.
Develop and assist with the integration of service-learning opportunities and therapeutic experiences.
Assist with discharge planning to ensure each student experiences a smooth, successful transition when a new placement is warranted.
Comply with the attendance policy when requesting and taking leave. Maintain an excellent time performance record and sufficient good health to maintain continuity of services to students and department.
Assist the Head of School with administrative duties, as needed.
LifeBridge offers a regular school year program that closely aligns with public school calendars in the area. Additionally, we run a six-week summer program.
